Wowee!! This is our kind of play space! This incredible, BRAND NEW, northside playground and splash park is perfect for a party! It has been so thoughtfully designed, with careful consultation from local kids and community groups. It’s wonderfully spacious and spread out into zones with play options to suit all ages and abilities.
Let’s start with the WATER PLAY! With multiple splash pads, a mist ring tunnel, basin and trough stations with manual push and pump facilities and a shallow stream running throughout, you’ll want to hang here with the kids all summer long!
The playground tower structures have been designed flat, wide and spacious as to be wheelchair accessible so that everyone gets the opportunity to play. There are sound installations like rainbow instrumental pipes, floor-mounted musical pedals and several speak and listen tubes. There’s a spiral tunnel slide and a wide metal slide for side-by-side action as well as a colourful rock climbing wall, a HUGE double flying fox run (with accessible/adult chair), in-ground trampolines (including a wheelchair accessible trampoline with side rails), several swings including a GINORMOUS basket swing and an expression swing (a face-to-face adult/child and baby/toddler swing) a wide see-saw with multiple seats, spinning cup, tunnels, hammocks and so much more! The structures are adorned with insect sculptures made from locally sourced scrap metal and if you look closely you might see cars, trucks and animals ‘fossilised’ in the rocks!
In its own zone is a ‘chill out’ area for a bit of quiet time and nature play. There’s a dry creek bed, tree stumps and balance logs, native plant life and even a Labyrinth for mindful play. Further afield you’ll find a large, shaded sandpit with diggers and play bench.
…And Mamma hasn’t even mentioned the full basketball court, kick and play green space area or the obstacle course exercise station designed for senior community members!
This is such a well considered play space and it’s so exciting to have it Northside. You’ll want to spend hours here. Be sure to pack some snacks, swimmers and a towel and make an adventure of it!
The existing (but also recently upgraded) toddler area is also super cool - it’s got shaded smaller structures and slides, climb on cars (including a sway glider for wheelchair access), a cubby play house and a swing set!
mamma’s special mention: The shelters are not able to be pre-booked, they are available on a ‘first come first served’ basis. However you can bring and set up your own picnic or temporary pop-up structures on the large grassed area.
Water play: Mist rings, water jets and bubblers operate from 8am-8pm during the warmer months (November - mid March). The water play pumps and tables operate all year round.
