mamma’s park party checklist

Decided to host your next party in a park? Great idea! But we also know it requires careful planning and packing to ensure you have everything you need to make it a success.

Here is a super list of items we think you should consider bringing:

Food and Drinks

  • Eskies/Ice Packs: To keep perishables cold.

  • Food: Pre-prepared dishes, snacks, and finger foods.

  • Cake: It’s not a birthday party without cake!

  • Candles: It’s not a birthday cake without candles.

  • Lighter/matches: For lighting up those candles.

  • Cake knife: For cutting the cake.

  • Cake server: For plating up the cake. We love cake!

  • Drinks: Water, soft drinks, juices, or alcoholic beverages if permitted.

  • Ice: For cooling drinks and food.

  • Serving Utensils: Tongs, ladles, and spatulas.

  • Cups, Plates, and Napkins: Disposable or reusable.

  • Cutlery: Forks, knives, and spoons.

  • Condiments: Tomato sauce, mustard, mayo, salt and pepper etc.

  • Paper towels or cloths: For cleaning up any spills.

  • For the BBQ: Oil, spatula, tongs etc

Equipment

  • Picnic Blankets: For seating.

  • Tables and Chairs: Portable if you need extra space.

  • Canopies or Tents: For shade or rain protection, if permitted.

  • Tablecloths: To protect tables and make cleanup easier.

  • Sticky Tape: To secure the tablecloths so they don’t blow around in any wind.

Entertainment

  • Portable Speaker: For music.

  • Games: Frisbees, volleyball, badminton, or board games.

  • Sports Equipment: Balls, bats, etc.

  • Activity Supplies: Craft materials, scavenger hunt items, etc.

  • Outdoor Toys: For children, like bubbles or kites.

Comfort

  • Sunscreen: For sun protection.

  • Bug Spray: To keep insects away.

  • Hand Sanitiser: For hygiene.

  • Wet Wipes: For quick cleanups.

  • Blankets or Throws: For extra warmth or comfort.

  • Seating Cushions: For added comfort on hard surfaces.

Decorations

  • Balloons, Streamers, Bunting: Anything to make your event colourful or on theme!

  • Signage: To direct guests or mark your area.

  • String/Fishing Line: To help attach the decorations.

  • Scissors: To cut the string.

  • Balloon Pump: To inflate the balloons.

Health and Safety

  • First Aid Kit: For minor injuries and emergencies.

  • Medication: Any personal or common medication needed.

  • Hygiene Products: Such as feminine hygiene products or tissues.

  • Disposable Gloves: For handling food or cleaning.

For Kids

  • Child-Friendly Snacks: Small, easy-to-eat options.

  • Children’s Games and Activities: Age-appropriate entertainment.

  • Portable High Chair: If there will be very young children.

  • Play area/barrier: If there are little ones to keep safe.

For Clean-Up

  • Cleaning Supplies: Paper towels, sponges, and cleaning spray.

  • Portable Vacuum or Broom: If there’s a lot of debris.

  • Rubbish Bags: For cleanup.

  • Recycling Bins: For the recyclables. Every 10c adds up :)

Miscellaneous

  • Camera or Smartphone: For taking photos.

  • Phone Charger/Power Bank: To keep devices charged.

  • Umbrellas: For unexpected rain or sun.

  • Portable Rubbish Bins: If park facilities are lacking.

  • Pet Supplies: If pets are invited—leashes, bowls, and waste bags.

  • Reusable Water Bottles: To reduce waste.

  • Bags or Containers for Leftovers: To take home any food.

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Jackets or hats if needed.

  • Weight: To ensure napkins etc don’t fly away in the wind.

  • Food Netting Cover: To make sure the flies stay away from your food.
